Longevity with the Consumption of Milk-Cheese?

Maybe all this time many people who believe that the consumption of milk and cheese will have great impact on one's age, meaning milk and milk products can prolong life. True?

If you see the results of a study of 120,000 adults in the Netherlands the elderly, the research team found that the intake of milk and cheese did not significantly affect the person's age.

This indicates that there is no relationship between intake of milk every day by men and the risk of death during the study period. As for women, high intake of milk fat - from butter and other dairy fat - is associated with a small improvement in terms of mortality, mainly caused by heart disease.

Conversely, consuming dairy products containing high fatty acids, including yogurt and sour cream, associated with small reduction of risk of death among men and women.

None of the multiple linkages that are proving that dairy products play a role in increasing or decreasing risk of death. And if anything, the effect is small, the researchers said.

Thus, these findings provide little reason for a person to increase or decrease their dairy intake, said lead researcher, Dr. R. Alexandra Goldbohm, from TNO Quality of Life in Leiden, Netherlands.

The role of dairy products, if any, against the risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases is still unclear so far, said the research team.

On the one hand, higher-fat milk is a source of saturated fat, which can raise cholesterol and contribute to heart disease. And some studies, though not all, have linked high intake of high fat milk with an increased risk of certain cancers, like prostate cancer.

On the other hand, several recent studies have shown that calcium, protein and unsaturated fat in milk may have health benefits ranging from controlling blood pressure and weight.

But at least when it comes to longevity, recent findings suggest that dairy products are not very harmful or very useful, Goldbohm team wrote in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
